Each playable race has its own unique type of racial mount, and players can choose from three different colors when they begin the quest line to acquire their first mount in the beginning zones. Some mounts can be purchased from a variety of vendors or obtained infrequently as rewards.
Baby mounts are the norm, so be prepared to nurture and train yours into a serviceable ally. When a mount reaches adulthood, it can be called into existence. Each character has their own unique Hit Points meter, Statistics, Experience Points meter, Equipment Slots, and Collision Detection. Either mount up and go for a ride, or have your mount follow you as you sprint around. In addition, as your mount levels up, it will unlock new abilities that can be used while you're on it. The escape routes can be attacked by hostile NPCs or other players.
A mount's name can be customized, and it will appear above its head when unattended. Right-clicking a mount's health bar lets you rename it after you've summoned it. Multiple characters can ride on mounts like horses, elk, and snowlions. The owner rides front and center and controls the mount, but any member of their group may hop on behind them for a ride. It's especially helpful for transporting trade packs. The rider or riders may be dismounted at any time by the mount's owner.
